About this role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing business as it enters an important new phase.
With significant investment underway and a varied portfolio of projects spanning shipbuilding, steel manufacturing, site capital investment and business transformation, this is an opportunity to take ownership of projects that will help shape the future of the business.
We are looking for someone who knows how to get projects moving, bring different teams together and turn plans into delivery. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Commercial and other business functions, keeping people focused, managing priorities and making sure projects stay on track.
The role
You will take responsibility for managing projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring activities are coordinated, progress is monitored and issues are dealt with before they become bigger problems.
• Developing and managing project plans, including scope, cost, schedule, milestones and deliverables.
• Leading and coordinating cross-functional project teams across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Commercial.
• Managing project risks, issues, changes and dependencies, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Monitoring project progress, cost and schedule performance, identifying variances and driving corrective action.
• Managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring clear communication across all areas of the business.
• Providing regular project updates and progress reports to senior stakeholders.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
What we are looking for
You will have a track record of delivering projects within a complex engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience within shipbuilding or the marine sector is particularly desirable, given the nature of the projects you will be supporting. We are also interested in people from wider engineering and manufacturing backgrounds who have experience managing technically complex projects and coordinating multiple disciplines.
• Proven experience managing projects from initiation and planning through to successful delivery.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working across different business functions.
• The confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels, influence decisions and keep people accountable.
• Strong project planning, scheduling, cost control and risk management skills.
• A practical, organised and proactive approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep projects moving.
• APM, PRINCE2, PMI or an equivalent project management qualification would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, Earned Value Management (EVM) or other project controls tools would be beneficial.
• Experience of NEC contracts would also be useful.
You must be eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance, with nationality and residency requirements potentially applying.
The opportunity
This is a great opportunity to join a business going through an important period of investment and change, with a varied programme of engineering, manufacturing and shipbuilding projects.
You will have the opportunity to work with different teams, take ownership and make a genuine contribution to the successful delivery of projects across the business.
If you are experienced in Project Management with a background in shipbuilding, marine, engineering or manufacturing and enjoy getting things done rather than simply managing them from a distance, we would like to hear from you.
